Indiana Principal Dies While Saving Lives
Some people go through school, not caring or getting close with any of their teachers or principals. There are some, though, that build a relationship with them, remembering them as the advance out of school and go on into the real world. The latter could describe Susan Jordan, especially after January 26th.
After a school bus lurched forward onto the sidewalk near a group of children, the heroistic actions of Mrs. Jordan saved the lives of a group of students, but her life was sadly taken. The bus driver did not know why the bus suddenly accelerated. The bus driver will be given a blood test to determine whether she was intoxicated at the time.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the bus was carrying a total of 25 students, with none of them suffering any injuries. However, there were two 10 year olds who were struck alongside Mrs. Jordan, but they are expected to fully recover.
After the accident, the sixth grade class at the elementary she was the principal of created a dedication video to the late principal, the tribute video set to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz.
Susan Jordan was the beloved principal at Amy Beverland Elementary for 22 years. According to The Washington Post, one teacher said: “I’m sure that I have never had and will never have a boss who is as supportive as she is.”
