The World Series
The 2016 World Series has ended. I know that I have never been so excited for a World Series in my life. The reason why I was so excited is because of the teams that were playing: The Cleveland Indians vs the Chicago Cubs.
The Cleveland Indians finished the 2016 season with a 94-67 record. They finished 1st in their division and finished 2nd in the American League. The Indians swept the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the postseason. The next round they played the Toronto Blue Jays. This round the Blue Jays won 1 game in the series but still lost the series 4 games to 1.
The Chicago Cubs finished the season with a 103-58 record. Cubs finished 1st in the National League. They also had the best record in major league baseball. The first round they beat the Giants 4 games to 2. In the next round they, also, beat the Dodgers 4 games to 2.
In the first game of The World Series, the Indians had a home game that was amazing. They scored 2 runs in the first inning. The Indians pitcher, Andrew Miller, had a great game and was named the MVP of the game. The final score was Indians 6 Cubs 0.
In game two, the Cubs decided to show up. Cubs pitcher, Jake Arrieta, held the Indians hitless until the 6th inning when the Indians scored their only run of the game. The final score was 5 to 1, Cubs. Now the series is tied 1 to 1.
Game 3 was an interesting game where both teams played great. This was the Cubs first game back home. It was 0 to 0 in the top of the 7th until Kris Bryant hit it to right field. With that hit, Addison Russell who was on third scored. The final score of game 3 was Cubs 1 Indians 0.
Game 4 the Cubs had a good first inning then could not get anything going from there. They had 1 run in the first inning. In the 7th inning Jason Kipnis hit a homerun and increased the Indians lead to 6. The final score was 7-2, Indians.
Now game 5 was especially interesting because if the Cubs had lost then they would lose the World Series. So, at this point it is win or go home for the Cubs. Game 5 is home for the Cubs. Cleveland goes up early 1 to 0 until Kris Bryant hits a solo homerun to tie up the game. That same inning they go up 3 to 1. Aroldis Chapman finish the game strong. The Cubs won, 3-2.
Game 6 is still win or go home for the Cubs. The Indians had an awful game. They let the Cubs score 3 runs in the first inning. The final score is Cubs 9 and Indians 0.
Game 7 of the World Series was on November 2, 2016. The Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs knew the winner would be champs!. Game 7 was a must-win for both teams. No matter what team wins someone is winning the World Series. The game started at 8 o’clock eastern time.
The first batter of the game was Dexter Fowler and he hits a solo home run. In the third inning the Indians scored 1 run and tied up the game 1-1. The next inning the Cubs scored 2 runs. Both teams scored 2 runs in the fifth. It’s bottom of the 8th and the Indians are trailing 6-3. The Indians get some nice hits and score three runs and tie the game up 6-6 in the 8th.
Both teams were scoreless in the 9th inning so now we are heading to extra innings. The 10th inning the Cubs score 2 runs with a nice hit from Jason Heyward. So, bottom of the 10th the score is 8-6 Cubs. Indians have to score 2 runs to go into more innings or they lose. Carlos Santana hit a nice line drive into left center and they score 1 run. The count is 0-1 with 2 out and a person on second and Michael Martinez is up to bat. Michael hit the ball toward the 3rd basemen, Kris Bryant. He makes a routine play and gets Michael out and the Cubs win game 7 with a score of Cubs 8 and the Indians 7 and the Cubs win the world Series. The last time the Cubs have won the World Series was in 1908.
Personally, I wanted the Indians to win. The reason why I wanted the Indians to win is because they are an Ohio team and I am a big fan of Michael Martinez. There is no other team that I would of wanted the Indians to lose to than the Cubs. I am a huge fan of David Ross. He is a catcher for the Cubs and catches for Jon Lester he is 39 years old. Sports analysts are saying that this is probably the best World Series ever, and I agree! That this was the best World Series ever.
