Bernie Sanders Editorial
Bernie Sanders, age 74, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, got his first important position in 1981 as mayor of Burlington, Vermont. He was then elected as U.S. Senate after 16 years as a congressman in the House of Representatives in 2001.
Sanders is an advocate for college, and he believes strongly in every person having the opportunity to get an education. He wants to make it so any person can go to college no matter what their parents make or can afford to contribute to it. His goal with this is to make tuition free at public colleges and universities. Other countries have already accomplished this and have had great success with it. Free tuition is the best one, but that's not the only things Sanders has in plan for college.
He also is proposing ideas, such as stopping the federal government from making profit off of loans, cut student interest rates, refinancing student loans interests rates, and allow students to use need based financial aid and work study programs to make college debt free. Sanders is extremely passionate about everybody getting this opportunity because he wants the future to be successful, which will decrease poverty.
Women’s Rights
Even today women's rights has been an issue for year seven though it is not as intense it is a huge controversy. Sanders believes it’s a woman's right to choose to have an abortion under whatever circumstance and that it should not under any reason include the government influencing that decision or making it for the woman. Also, he wants to make it so women can get tested for HIV and STIs or any primary health care services. Sanders plans to even make schooling for smaller children more available for parents who can not afford for their child to go to school.his also goes for child are such as daycare. On Sanders’ campaign page, he has a category labeled “How Bernie pays for his proposals”,which explains every single way he plans on making these amazing changes possible if elected president.
Sanders is right for his party and deserves presidency because he has experience as a member of the U.S Senate and congressman. He would be the best president for this country because he is trying to get us, the people, out of debt and make our life easier/better. Student loans are a significant issue in debt; doing all that Bernie wants to bring down debt a lot. Medical bills are also a high problem with debt in America.
Some counterarguments are about cheaper or even free health care and in order to do all of that, he would create a single payer system which would wipe away all other insurances. My argument with this, is how is that a bad thing? This means everybody would get free insurance no matter what, with no copay or deductibles. Another counterargument is the free college or tuition and cutting down student debt would cost 70 billion per year and that some of that money would go to families who could already afford it. My argument back would be that doing this would make us the number one most educated work force in the world and in the end, it is totally worth it. If we have less poverty in the world and replace it with education, which will send adults out into the world looking for jobs and making money, then we will all be more educated and be well off financially.
One of Sanders biggest rivals in the Democratic party is Hillary Clinton. Bernie has been a U.S Senate and congressman as I have brought up many times so far and Hillary has stepped down from election in 2001. He was an elected official for thirty four years while she was only for eight. According to InsideGov.com , Sanders and Hillary are the same on domestic and economic issues, but Sanders blows Hillary out of the park on defense and individual rights issues. Clinton has been questioned for years, even when her husband, Bill Clinton, was in office for her judgement. While President Clinton was in office, he admitted to cheating on Ms. Clinton with his secretary. Ms. Clinton took him back after the huge scandal. Clinton, on top of all that, has exposed top secret emails from CIA agents which makes the public question if she is even taking her job seriously and how cautious she is being.
A significant fallacy against Sanders would be his age; a lot of people are concerned saying things such as him passing away while in office. This fallacy, called an ad hominem attack, is inaccurate because the people should not be basing his ideas and what he believes by looking past that and focusing on something that does not matter such as his age.
Sanders would be the best fit for president because he has amazing plans for America and has many ways to make these plans happen. He is working harder than ever for the people and only wants to help them out in many ways. Sanders is trying to better the future for the upcoming generations
