Who Are LVHS Students Voting For?

This 2016 presidential election is rapidly coming to an end. With each candidate going head to head, this year's election is going to be a close run. Do you know who you’re are going to vote for? If you still are uncertain, it isn’t too late to figure it out.

We took a survey and sent it out to all the students of our school, about who each student was planning on voting for in this upcoming election. In the graph below, is my first survey question with the results included.

According to the survey results 50% of the seniors are voting for Sanders. The rest of the students votes are split between Kasich, Trump, Cruz, and Clinton.

Rubio was the first Cuban-American Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who has never held, much less run, for elected office. Donald Trump, was a well-known business man and co-producer of “The Apprentice.” As Governor of Ohio, many of us might be more familiar with John Kasich and the impact he’s had on Ohio’s citizens than others.

A student anonymously added in their opinion about Sanders, writing, “He seeks change in the income equality in America. I'm also thinking about the position that I'm in, abou to go to college, and Bernie Sanders promises free college. I understand that not everything is free. But this generation needs someone to stand up for them in Congress [sic].”

Kasich, Trump, Cruz, and Clinton all fell behind Sanders, but were all close in percent as a runner up.

Students also anonymously added, “If it’s not Trump, I think they have the ability to help our nation.”

Another student also added, “I will vote for the GOP nominee because Hillary Clinton will be in prison for Benghazi and Bernie Sanders is just a pot smoking socialist [sic]”

Whether or not students have any background knowledge regarding to the candidates beliefs or promises, they’re still entitled to say their own opinion.

From sending out this survey, we’ve conducted a variety of answers. Some in which were reasons why they wanted to vote for a certain candidate, or why they didn’t want to vote for them. This 2016 election is happening quickly, who will you vote for?

If you want to learn more, the following resources will send you to websites pertaining information about each candidate.
