Licking Valley Varsity Softball
Licking Valley Varsity Softball is a very young team this year. There are two freshmen, six sophomores, two juniors, and four seniors. They lost pretty much the whole infield except one sophomore when last year’s seniors graduated. The head coach, Paxton, had a rough start to the season trying to figure out where he was going to put everyone. After a couple of scrimmages, he figured it out. They were down a player from the outfield for the first 5 games. She is back for her first game against Northridge, so Paxton will probably make some more arrangements.
For the first couple games, the Panthers fought hard and may not have had the outcome they wanted but they are starting to pull together and figure things out. Other teams are doubting them right now but these girls are going to pull some wins out of them.
Sophomore Jordyn Edwards, who plays left field and first says, “It's frustrating because I know we are better than how we have played against some of the teams we have went up against so far.”
There are a lot of girls that don't have a Varsity experience, but it's hard going from a slower pace game to a faster pace game. It's a big difference and it’s hard to adjust right away and trying to figure out where you are better at playing. The girls just need to have confidence and believe they can do it because they have all the talent they need on that team.
Varsity coach Paxton says, “I'm just trying to find the right parts.”
These girls will end up surprising everyone when they get the puzzle put together. Other teams aren't even worried about us anymore because they think since we lost our seniors, we aren't as good. They will just have to find when we start upsetting people. We got this girls we just need all our confidence!
GO PANTHERS !!
