Licking Valley Lacrosse

Lacrosse has become an increasingly popular sport and is become more and more renowned. Basic facts about lacrosse. Each team is allowed to have a total of ten players on the field along with the goaltender. Each shot, if it goes in goal it is worth one point. Game starts with face off at mid field.

For the past 5 years, the Licking Valley Panthers, formally known as The Hanover Hilljacks, started as a club sport where kids from around the county where (their school did not offer lacrosse) could come and play at Licking Valley for the Hilljacks.

This year was the first year of independence as The Licking Valley Panthers lacrosse team played their first ever game in front of a home crowd on a slightly chilled night, up on the turf.

Since then, the Panthers have held their own, especially at home with a perfect record in front of their home crowd. They continue to bring a sense of excitement meant to those looking to broaden their experience in sports.

This past Friday April 8th the Panthers battled in harsh unfriendly conditions which seemed to be a distraction, along with the entrance of a select few to watch the game.

The contest between the Licking Valley Panthers and the Dayton Eagles was a very interesting bout. In the early stages of the game the panthers quickly jumped out to an 8 to 2 lead before taking out their starting goaltender Senior Morgan Posey along with other key senior leaders such as Bailey Hayden, Garrett Robinson and Drew Ross.

That's when it seemed that things were becoming uneasy as the young and talented Panthers felt the lead slip.

However in the fourth quarter the Panthers never gave the lead away as Dayton Eagles could only come within one goal from taking the lead before the hounding defense of Senior Garrett Robinson and Junior Paul Kirk helped the Panthers conquer yet another victory.
