The Case Against Abortion
On estimate, about 1.6 million babies get aborted in the US each year. On average, 3,000 children are aborted each day. Making 22% of all pregnancies end in abortion. To put it into perspective, that is 1 million lives each year that we are just throwing away. These children have no choice.
Abortions are being used as a way out; many people are taking this as an easy way out so they don’t have to raise a child. Although many say abortions are helpful when the birth could be harmful towards the mother, 92% of women stated they received an abortion for social or other reasons rather than medical or assault cases. The counterclaim of abortion should be legal for medical reasons is just another loophole that irresponsible people take advantage of.
Even though that has been over time, if someone were to kill 55 million people, nobody would be supporting or funding them. Ironically, America is pushing for legal abortions, yet protesting Trump in fear of genocide.
In the Bible, Exodus 21-22 states that if a man hits a pregnant women and the baby dies, the man is not charged with murder but rather fined. This is a counterclaim for those who don’t believe that life starts at conception. However, Psalm 139:13-16 states:
“You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.”
This is depicting how God created us from conception by hand; he had a plan for us from day one. It says, “All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be,” which is a counterclaim that fetuses don’t feel anything, and they are too premature for an abortion to effect anything.
This means that when an abortion is taking place, the noxious stimulus is causing the fetus to potentially feel pain depending on how developed they are.
The fetus skin is not as thick or developed, meaning the nerves are more exposed. Whether or not the fetus has developed its sense of pain is a case-by-case basis. Typically, these free nerve endings start to develop around seven weeks gestation.
Often times when debating this topic the other side uses the sharpshooter fallacy, meaning they ignore the data and statistics and just draw a false conclusion. The opposing side states that most abortions are used to prevent medical complications with the mother; however, the aforementioned facts show that most abortions are used for social reasons instead of medical ones.
From the beginning, that scripture says that God had individual plans for us mapped out by his very own hands, how could you take that from someone? Most cases are an irresponsible person using that as a fall back when they make a poor decision. People often forget about the choice of adoption. Abortions should be looked at on a case-by-case basis, and social reasons should be banned. The fetus may be too young to have a voice, but it doesn’t mean it shouldn't have a life.
