Bruce Willis in Granville, Ohio

Bruce Willis is a famous actor in the action movie genre. In most of his roles he is a hard-edged, or wisecracking character. Willis is best known for his role in the “Die Hard” movies (1988-2013), where he was an officer for the NYPD, named John McClane who tries to save not only his wife, but many hostages taken during a Christmas party by German terrorists. Willis is also known for his performance in the movie “ The Sixth Sense” (1999). Willis plays as a child psychologist, named Dr. Malcolm Crowe who tries to find out about young Cole Sear’s supernatural abilities.

Earlier this week (Tuesday August 30th) Bruce Willis started filming his new movie First Kill in the small village of Granville Ohio. This is a big deal to many of his fans, as they had a chance to be an extra in the film. Many “Die Hard” fans of Willis are coming from all over Ohio just to see Willis take action in the scenes.

According to the Newark Advocate, Willis will be playing a police chief who is trying to solve a kidnapping, with little time. When a man and his son witness a man shooting a bank robber that had just recently robbed a bank. the bank robber takes the man’s son as hostage to get the key to the safe that contains all of the money from the heist.

Bruce Willis and his crew are scheduled to be staying in the village for 600 hours including lodging and meals as well. Director of the film, Steven C. Miller, told the Newark Advocate that the crew will be at Lazy River Campground for most of the film. The crew will be in and out of the village for the remainder of time to shoot films in other places.

The Granville Village manager, Steve Pyles, explained that the plot in the movie will also be set in Granville. There are concerns about shooting the movie in Granville, because Ohio is strict on shooting films in the state. There are not going to be any shots of explosions, or car chases in the village, so that should lessen the concern about shooting the film here in Ohio. The cast of the film will be using the some of the Granville police cars, but will be paying for the time that they are used. “Their main goal is to not cost the village money,” Pyles explained to the Newark Advocate.

Licking Valley high school student, John Lamp stated, “ I’m very excited for Bruce to be in Granville. The new movie should be a good one.” In another interview with a Granville resident, Zack Manogg said that, “Other than traffic jams from people going to watch Willis filming, nothing was really effected the movie being shot here."
