Does Netflix Have Good Streaming Services?
Millions of people these days are turning away from cable and deciding to watch TV on streaming services such as Netflix.
According to Netflix Media Center, since 1997, which is when it started streaming movies, tv shows, and many other features. It has gotten over 83 million members in over 190 countries enjoying over 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day. Its members can watch whenever and wherever they want on any device as long as they have internet connection. In addition, members can also play, pause, and resume watching without commercial interruptions and commitments.
According to Netflix Review, Netflix has a variety of tv shows and movies that its members can choose from. It can be accessed on different devices, such as a phone or tablet, and other platforms, like Roku, as long as the user has internet access. Moreover, it’s also easy to set up and doesn’t take a lot of time to do so. Furthermore, the movies on Netflix are unedited. The steaming service also has a Kids Only setting, which blocks all movies and TV shows PG-13 and R rated.
Another quality that Netflix’s members enjoy is that there’s always new content every week, so they aren’t watching the same movies and tv shows all of the time. Furthermore, there are also certain tv shows that are only available on Netflix, such as Dare Devil.
Financially speaking, the amount that is paid to renew a membership is affordable. It’s only $8 a month and if there’s a late fee, Netflix doesn’t demand that their members pay more than what the original fee is.
Although there are many pros about Netflix, it also has a downside to its streaming services. One of these negative things is that it doesn’t have many. Many of its members also don’t like that they have to make a monthly payment even if they didn’t really use it that month. When it comes to TV shows, the wait for new episodes is a long one. Some of Netflix’s members also don’t like how browsing on the streaming service can sometimes be a challenge.
To get the customer perspective of the subject, a school wide survey was done to see how many people enjoyed watching Netflix. First, the students were asked if they watched Netflix. Then, they were asked if they liked it or not. Finally, the students were asked why they did or didn’t like it. 77.6% of the students who did the survey said “yes” to the first question, while 10.4% said “no”, and another 11.9% said “somewhat”. For the second question, 83.6% of the responders said “yes”, whereas 3% of the the students who responded said “no” and the other 13.4% said “somewhat”.
Furthermore, in response to the third question, a student said, “Sometimes I like Netflix sometimes I don't. I like Netflix because I can watch movies that I couldn't see in theater. What I don't like about Netflix is that more movies should be added monthly and get rid of the old, boring movies.” In other words, Netflix needs to add the movies and TV shows that are newer and not from the old days.
Additionally, another student said, “I think Netflix is cool to a certain point. It's cheap and you get to watch new things you may not have gotten the chance to other wise. However, binge watching and things like that have become normal, and I don't think this is a good thing. Now more than ever people are choosing to chill at home and watch netflix movies or tv shows instead of going out and experiencing things. The other bad thing about Netflix is that it's completely destroying companies that rent and/or sell DVDs. There may come a time soon when there aren't any hard copy movies and that's very weird to think about.”
However, some of the students who responded to the survey leaned more towards one side of the topic than the other. Some students liked it, while others did not.
One student who answered “yes” to whether or not they liked Netflix said, “I like netflix because when you see a new show you like on tv, you can watch it and see if you like it and then watch the previous seasons on netflix [sic]”. In addition, another student who gave the same answer said, “I can watch all the TV shows and movies I like without paying a fortune.”
In spite of all of the positive things that come with Netflix, some students do not enjoy Netflix or they don’t use it. One student who selected “no” for the second question said, “The shows aren't updated quickly.” Another student who selected the same option for question two said, “I have never watched anything on Netflix.”
Like any streaming program, Netflix has its flaw. However, it’s up to the person who is using it to decide whether or not it has good streaming service.
