Licking Valley vs. Bloom Carroll
This Friday Licking Valley High school football team will be facing Bloom Carroll at Bloom Carroll. LV is currently 1-1 on the season with 8 more games left in the season working for a playoff spot.
LV’s first game was a tough game against Newark Catholic and loss 21-7. NC running back Kyle Gibson was unstoppable. No one on the Panthers could stop him. He had 186 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns. Jacob Lewis has a nice pass to Ethan Brechbill but other than that Valley could not get anything going on offence. Valley had a total of 5 turnover and a lot of penalties.
The last game LV won with a game winning kick against Philo. Philo jumped out to a quick start against the panthers when Jacob Lewis fumbled the ball in the back field and had a safety which gave Philo a quick 2-0 lead. The panthers responded with a nice pass from Jacob Lewis to Gunnar Carpenter for the Panthers first lead of the game 7-2. In the fourth quarter the Panthers are down 19-20 with 7 minutes left and the Panthers have the ball on the 2 on the opposite side of the field. LV goes on a crazy drive and gets the ball on the 12 of the Panthers side of the field with 3 seconds left. Ethan Brechbill kicks the game winning kick and wins the game for the Panthers 22-20.
Bloom Carroll is 1-1 in their season; they are a very good team and LV will have a very difficult time in this game. LV will need to slow down Bloom Carroll's QB Grant Dozer. LV has a lot of talented and young kids. Bloom Carroll will need to slow down WR Gunnar Carpenter and WR Ethan Brechbill. Brechbill last game made the game winning kick in an exciting game against Philo. LV has 3 sophomores playing all varsity WR Ethan Hile, RB Connor Mclaughlin, and NG Garrett Meyers, but they also have a couple other sophomores helping on the field. Colin Kozloski is kicking on kick offs and extra points and Tyler Hartless is helping on the defensive side. Bloom Carroll lost their first game against Maysville 7-6 and won their second against Sparta Highland 24-0. The game starts at 7 o’clock on 9-9-16.
