Pokémon Go

A lot of people all over the world are obsessing over the new Pokémon GO app on their smart/Android devices. Men and women of all ages are playing this game all across the world and enjoying Pokémon Go.

From the beginning, Pokémon, a game that kids, teens and possibly some young adults would play on a Nintendo Game Boy Color. It became so popular in Japan that they moved it to the United States. Also, from the publicity the game got, it became a television show. It broadcasted out in Japan on April 1, 1997 and it then came out on September 8, 1998 in the U.S starring Ash Ketchum and his first Pokémon, Pikachu.

A school-wide survey shows how the students feel about the new game. They responded towards it with what they liked and disliked.

One statement a student responded with about what they liked was, “It helps get people active and social and encourages people to visit historical and significant places[sic].” This feedback shows that this student must enjoy playing the game and thinks it was a great idea.

Another said, “I've never played, but it's really neat that you have to travel around and find the pokemon. You can create little adventures using the game as opposed to sitting at home by yourself playing it[sic].” Even though this student hasn’t played they still enjoyed what it does for others.

In the game, there are Pokéstops and they are normally at different churches, graveyards, parks, and other historical locations. So, when people get there they click on it, swipe it, and then start collecting the items. For example, Pokéballs, great balls, revives, potions, etc, which people can use when they start training their pokémon. But in order to get these, they would need to walk or drive only 10 mph down a road, which can be very dangerous, so it’s just easier to walk instead. Also, at these Pokéstops the players collect eggs. Eggs come in 3 different travel lengths to be able to hatch: 2km, 5km, and 10km. Players have to walk this much in order to hatch the Pokémon that come out of them. In the 2km egg are basic ones that players find around frequently. The longer the players walk around the better the Pokémon they hatch.

All in all Pokémon Go is a considerable app to download even if citizens look dumb playing it. Gotta catch ‘em all, right?
