America's youngsters got talent
Grace Vanderwaal, a 12-year-old singer and songwriter from Suffren, New York, recently won the eleventh season of America’s Got Talent. Along with her win she received one million dollars and her very own Las Vegas show. According to a People magazine report, she intends to donate the million dollars (after having a tree house built, because she is only 12 after all) to a musical charity, but she isn’t sure which one yet.
The young star is very talented and will go places in her life. She is scheduled to perform in Vegas on October 27-29 of 2016 and promptly return back to school.
It was just a little over a year ago when Grace got her first ukulele, which is what she is known to perform with. When she failed to get one for her birthday, she used all of her birthday money to buy one for herself. Since, she has collected many different ukuleles.
For her first performance, Grace sang an original song entitled “I don’t know my name.”
After her audition she received Howie Mandel’s golden buzzer, sending her straight to the live shows. On these live shows she performed “Beautiful Thing”, “Light The Sky”, and “Clay”, all of which are all original songs.
Throughout the course of the show she was praised by judges. Howie Mandel stated “America has to vote. Grace has to win,” as well as "My prediction is she's going to be the biggest star since a Kelly Clarkson and a Carrie Underwood to come out of a talent show,"
The judge also made the claim, "People are going to know that name. People are going to follow her. She's got a huge career ahead of her, which is scary for a 12-year-old. That's a lot of pressure!"
Not only was she praised by judges, but by the entirety of America.
