Ohio State Attack Creates Twitter Controversy

OSU students at Watts Hall were evacuated an academic building due to a fire alarm going off. Sidewalks were filled with students when a student intentionally drove his car into them and then proceeded to get out and slash people with a butcher knife. Abdul Razak Ali Artan, an 18-year-old student at Ohio State university was identified as the suspect.

A bystander, named Jacob Bowers tells NBC news that he was sitting about 100 feet away on a bench says that he saw people running and “then I heard someone yell, 'He's got a knife.' And I saw a guy with a big-a** knife just chasing people around. When I saw that, I grabbed all my stuff and started running.” Bowers says that he turned around to see what was going on and he heard an officer say “Drop it and get down or I will shoot”. Moments after that gunshots were heard.

Gunshots were heard from dorm rooms and places around the area. Stephen Yunker, freshman 18, says that he heard six or seven gunshots from his dorm two blocks away from Watts Hall. Yunker and his roommate looked out their window and Yunker tells NBC news, “We saw fire trucks, couple of cars and a body laying on the ground,"

Abdul was shot and killed within a minute of the incident by Alan Horujko.

Horujko is an OSU officer and has been on the force for two years. In this time span, only 11 people were injured. Six of them were injured by the car and five had knife injuries. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life threatening.

During and after the attack, social media app Twitter was blowing up with love and even hate. Twitter handle @UMichAthletics tweeted “Stay safe, Buckeyes”. OSU and Michigan put rivalries aside during this terrifying time.

Although not everyone is nice, twitter handle @thesenuts365 tweets “Ohio State University cheats during Michigan game. Campus gets shot up the following school day. Karma or nah? 👀 🐸🍵#karma”

This has been blowing up all over the internet and there is so much hate towards this man but he is not backing down. He later tweets “Y’all acting like I’m the one shooting the school up😏,” and then he tweets “Okay. I’ll apologize. As soon as somebody admits to the fact that was Passing Interference on Michigan's final drive on 3rd down?💁”. Hours later he tweets, “The sad funny thing is I said nothing offensive. Everybody just took it that way. Oh well I guess.”

Cameron Jacob, @thesenuts365, mentions that he just wanted to see what everyone thought, was it karma or not? People have been attacking this person because what he said is very rude and disturbing to most people.

He is also a criminal and has been charged with robbery, assault, disorderly conduct, and threatening and intimidating. Cameron assaulted a woman after she rejected his marriage proposal. Cameron Jacob has tweeted about him kidnapping a woman, and admits to not feeling bad about it.

With this put aside, an attack like this should be taken seriously and not be brought into school rivalries. Jokes should have not been made.
