Dress Code

A huge controversy nowadays is student dress code in high school. Some schools have even resulted into uniforms for all students due to this issue or bullying with less fortunate kids not wearing as nice of clothes. Each school has the decision of how strict or loose the rules are. There is not a nationwide policy or dead set rules for every school to follow.

With my school, the dress code is sexist and misleading. A lot of schools concerns are they do not want any private body parts hanging out and do not want these parts being shown more distracting the opposite gender. Women and girls are more likely to be targeted with this issue due to us being the ones blamed for being the more “sexual” gender. Although, it is not our fault we have more curvaceous body parts than males, and does not mean we need to hide away our bodies or be in discomfort because a male has an issue with it. Some women have extreme discomfort with wearing bras due to too much cleavage, there is not the woman's fault. So why should a school have a say in what a female student can or cannot be comfortable in when coming to school, an obligated place they have to be. Better yet why should a female student be hot and uncomfortable or not able to wear shorts and tank tops due to making males “uncomfortable”.
