How private is Echo Amazon?


Is Echo Amazon listening to everything you say?

Echo is a smart speaker developed by Amazon. It only works when you say the keyword, Alexa. It shares what it hears to Amazon servers to give a reply then those conversations are stored.“The Echo has to listen to everything. That's kind of disturbing," said Ryan O'Leary of WhiteHat Security, an expert in WhiteHat Security

Amazon says that it does not capture voice until it hears the keyword. Some of Amazon features are control your iphone,Multiple timers and alarms

There was a case in Arkansas when a man died in a hot tube at a friend's house. They asked Amazon recordings in hopes that they might help in the case. If they take a good look at the recording then it could have probably helped them solve the case.

"People say you shouldn't be concerned if you're not doing anything wrong, but it's a dangerous example to set,” he said. If someone is concerned they can use the bundled remote and it will mute it,r just don't buy it if you are truly worried about it listening to you all the time.

Amazon and Google both have security that prevents people from hacking and wiretapping your home, they wouldn't sell a product that isn't safe and secure for people to use.That's what they say but you don't really know if it's true or not.

LVHS Health teacher Mrs.Phelps has an Echo Amazon, and was willing to share her opinion of it.

She said, “Myself and my two boys recently purchased an echo- it is certainly a novelty item in our household. We use it to provide music, Tell us jokes, flip a coin to determine household chores for FUN- it can even provide an alarm clock, sports facts, and stats. We have had no problem with it.Again, we use it daily for a fun factor in our house.”

So, it's not all bad, there are perks of having it. Maybe it's time the world should gets use this kind of technology, because in the future all our appliances could be talking and listening to us.
