Coachella 2017
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a huge music festival, founded by Paul Tollet and Rick Van Santan in 1999, which is currently hosted in Indio, California. The festival's origins come from a 1993 boycott against Ticketmaster as Pearl Jam played at the Empire Polo Club (where Coachella is hosted) as it was proven to be a great site to host large events.
Coachella has many different genres of music such as rock, rap, R&B and hip-hop. Many famous bands have been to Coachella such as Rage Against the Machine, Weezer, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and many more.
This year, Coachella is being hosted from April 14-16 and April 21-23. Although tickets are sold out, you can still get them on different websites such as stubhub.com. This year’s lineup includes hit artists such as Radiohead, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and many others.
There is more to do than just watch people play music at Coachella. There is a lot of sightseeing like breathtaking artwork and lights. There’s also a bunch of new foods to try as there are over 100 vendors serving everything from wood-fired pizza to handcrafted burgers.
Coachella is one of the biggest music festivals in the nation. 99,000 people per day attended the six days of music and art. It also brings in about $704 million dollars and $3.18 million of that is tax revenue. Income from Coachella pays for more than 5% of the city's funds.
Even though Coachella is one of the biggest music festivals in the nation, there are still many other festivals around the world that are much larger, including a festival called Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is held in Belgium and has millions of people from all around the world attend.
